Staying active in Mill Creek is easier than you might think. “Miles and miles of walking trails linking parks all over Mill Creek is one of my favorite features [of the city],” Jen shares. 60 different trails loop throughout Mill Creek, providing some of the most scenic walking, running, biking, and horseback riding opportunities around. Whether you need a place to get in your daily workout or just want to enjoy some fresh air and peaceful nature, you will find what you’re looking for on these gorgeous trails.

If you’re looking for a spot for your kid’s next sports game, check out the Mill Creek Sports Park. “The Mill Creek Sports Park is located at the corner of Bothell-Everett Hwy. and Trillium Blvd. and is the location for a fantastic mixed-use sports field that is used by both soccer and baseball/softball,” shares Travis DeFries. “It is a turfed field, so a little bit of rain doesn’t cancel games, it has lights to be able to play up until 10 PM and it even has a snack shack and announcers booth!” With other amenities like a Tot Lot and picnic tables, the whole family can enjoy the great outdoors while cheering on the home team.

Another popular feature of the Mill Creek Sports Park comes recommended by both Travis and Tonya Tye. The Mill Creek Skate Park offers a wide range of bowls as well as an innovative street course that consists of several sections tied together, an 8-stair down rail, and much, much more. Whether your kid’s a beginner or a seasoned skating pro, he or she will find the perfect challenge at this local favorite spot.

“Mill Creek Little League has one of the largest and most successful Little League programs in the state,” shares Travis DeFries. “Every year they have over 800 boys and girls between the ages of 4-18 play baseball or softball. 9 years ago, the 12-year-old All-Stars ended up being the NW representatives at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. This year the 10-year-old and 11-year-old boys All-Stars teams both finished 2nd at the state tournament. This year, the 12-year-old girls softball All-Stars won the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row! The took 2nd place in the regional championship game to represent the West in the World Series. They lost a heartbreaker 1-0 in extra innings, but went down in history as the best softball team to ever come out of Mill Creek!”

According to Tonya, “there are some nice walking trails near the downtown area and around Village Green Drive.” One of these trails is the scenic North Creek Trail, which links the cities of Mill Creek, Bothell, and Everett. Filled with lush plant life, a serene duck pond, and other natural beauties, this trail provides the perfect opportunity for you to get your kids off the couch, active, and making meaningful connections with their local environment.

Sports lovers will have even more to enjoy in Mill Creek near the end of this year. “Just down from Mill Creek Sports is the new Arena Sports complex that is scheduled to open this Fall,” says Travis. “It is a 98,000 square foot facility that will include a full family entertainment center destined to be the go-to-destination for parties, special events, group activities and more. Activities include an indoor inflatable playground, bowling (both full-size lanes and mini five-pin lanes), multi-floor laser tag arena, rock climbing tower, two-story ropes course, 100 arcade games, on-site dining and two indoor soccer fields that can be used for recreational games and practices.” Check out all the info on Arena Sports now because once it’s open, your kids will never want to go anywhere else!

Indeed, with everything at your fingertips, it’s hard not to feel like you’re in the big city: “I love the convenience and the downtown feel of the Mill Creek Town Center,” says Ginna Demme. “I can grab my coffee, get a manicure, grocery shop, and run other errands all in the same great spot!” Tonya Tye agrees, noting “the Town Center is a fun place to walk around, go for coffee, dessert or dinner.”

When it comes to grocery shopping in Mill Creek, no place beats the Town Center’s own Central Market. “Central Market is a destination grocery experience,” says Jen Bowman. “Best produce, delicious prepared foods for a quick and healthy meal, awesome sushi, and great floral selection for cut and potted plants and flowers.”
Heather Potts agrees, noting “Central Market Grocery Store has the best selection of fresh fruit, wine, seafood, meats, made-to-order sandwiches, fresh sliced deli meats and cheeses, a large selection of organic foods, sushi and more.” Follow Heather’s suggestions and “grab a bite to eat and enjoy the outdoor courtyard or stop to shop for a special dinner…” No matter what, you are sure to have a one-of-a-kind experience at this store that, as Heather simply puts, “has it all”!

Bands that have played this year include Fabulous Roof Shakers, The Infinity Project, Big Dog Revue, High Voltage, Highway 9, Cherry Cherry, Sly Mr Y, Creme Tangerine and Ventura Highway Revisited.”

What could be better than pizza? How about pizza paired with 18 varieties of cold craft beer? Elliott Bay Pizza & Pub is a local favorite and go-to spot for Travis and his family. This family-friendly locale is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and features one of the best menus in the Town Center.
“They make their own special dough each morning to be used for their incredible pizzas and sandwiches,” says Travis. “They also serve a wide variety of great pasta dishes and salads.” While you’re here, be sure to take advantage of their beer selection, too: “They have also become very well known in the area for their extensive beer selection and ever-changing beers on tap,” Travis shares. “If you are looking for something not found everywhere else, you need to come here!” Indeed, Elliott Bay Pizza & Pub is one pizza place you will definitely not want to pass up.
“If you’re a serious outdoorsman,” Becky Larsen states, “check out Pacific Fly Fishers. Expert service in your own backyard.” Indeed, everything from boats, flies, lines, and other fishing tools, to classes and water quality resources provided by passionate local fishers, gives you all you need to hone your skills and become a true master fisherman.
Opened in 1991, La Palmera has been serving up delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine for 26 years. “La Palmera is a favorite Mexican restaurant,” Becky says. “Family owned and great food.” If you’re a fan of grande burritos, sizzling fajitas, and margaritas made with premium tequila, this restaurant is the place for you.
If you’re looking to put a little more zen in your life, check out Hot Yoga Inc. This low-impact exercise routine works with your body’s natural range of motion to help you lose weight, de-stress, and become your best self.

Local sports fans cannot seem to get enough of the new Mill Creek Sports, located just near the Town Center. “Just down the road is the location of the new Mill Creek Sports, which is known as one of the best sports memorabilia shops around,” shares Travis. “They outgrew their previous place in town and now have a huge 2-story facility to house their items.”
“Mill Creek Sports is known throughout the greater Seattle area as the place to go if you want sports memorabilia,” Brian Hayter notes. “They have an incredibly wide selection of authentic autographed Seattle and beyond sports items. A must see for a sports fan!” Travis agrees, adding that “several times per month they also bring in high profile current or retired sports stars to sign autographs. A favorite among Yvette, Brian, and Tonya Robison Tye, Indigo serves up great comfort food and a rotating list of draft brews. “I like Indigo; they have a great happy hour,” Yvette shares. Tonya seconds that notion, with the addition that her “…favorite Lynnwood restaurant is Indigo for lunch and dinner…” and the locals can’t be wrong!
According to Aurora Pedrola, “for beer/cider, definitely hit Special Brews. Their selection is unreasonably large but the bartenders will always help you choose. And some local take out places deliver there,” making this tavern a win-win all around.
Beat the summer heat with a refreshing drink from Hop Jack’s. “Hop Jack’s has a fantastic happy hour,” says Andrea Wetzel. Indeed, with a beer tower pouring local brews at a frosty 34 degrees and affordable cocktails made with real fruit, this bar’s happy hour is an experience in itself.
Take a trip to the wild west without ever leaving Lynnwood at Moonshine BBQ. “Moonshine BBQ on 196th has a great outdoor patio and happy hour,” shares Brian Hayter. With 16 northwest drafts, crafted moonshine and smoked barbeque pairings, and an old-fashioned saloon vibe, you can spend happy hour getting in touch with your inner cowboy!
Chow down on classic BBQ burgers, sandwiches, and more while enjoying a full bar and happy hour at this premier Lynnwood barbeque joint. Andrea’s menu suggestion? “Cask & Trotter has the best wings ever!”
A unique and cozy Lynnwood brewpub, “Ellersick Brewery (aka Big E Ales),” as Brian notes, is a fantastic neighborhood hangout. “Wednesday night is wing night at Ellersick Brewery which is always a great place to meet up with friends,” Tonya shares. So grab the gang and head down to Big E Ales for some good beer, good grub, and good times!
A recommended breakfast spot by Tonya, B3 Breakfast & Burger Bar is truly one-of-a-kind. Their menu includes unique items like Chicken N’ Savory Waffles as well as classic light breakfasts, specials, and gourmet burgers for lunch. If you want to wake up with some delicious flavors, check out B3 in the morning!
“Lynnwood has a couple of great pizza joints that you can’t beat,” shares Stefanie Massie. “The Rock [for example] brews their own beer with seasonal selections and they do a killer wood fired pizza! My favorite is the ‘Crazy Train,’” which includes awesome toppings like hot cherry peppers and caramelized onions; definitely not to miss!
Another spot in Lynnwood for premium pies is Zeeks. “Zeeks pizza is also conveniently located and has a premium selection of beer and wine,” says Stefanie. “Can’t go wrong with their pizza either. Menu adapts with the season!”
Recommended by Yvette Sanchez for its great food and karaoke, O2 Sushi is a must. Bento boxes, happy hours, and tons of delectable sushi dishes make this place ideal for any adventurous foodie!
For the best Thai food in Lynnwood, Brian Hayter suggests Silver Spoon. With an atmosphere of relaxed elegance and an array of great-tasting Thai dishes, this spot is perfect for a quiet date or nice family meal.

TRANSIT
When it comes to getting around, Jen Bowman knows trails and park-and-rides that make commuting a breeze! For example, summer is great for taking advantage of the Interurban Trail:
“Take a bike ride or jog along the Interurban Trail,” says Jen. “Linking North Seattle to South Everett, this is a great regional connector trail!”
Another suggestion? Commuters should definitely be taking advantage of the Lynnwood Transit Center, a convenient park-and-ride that features 1,368 parking spaces, lockers, a ride store, and more. Also, for those living in Lynnwood or those with plans to move to Lynnwood, you’re in luck—the Link Light Rail is coming to Lynnwood! Currently, the light rail runs from Angle Lake (just past the SeaTac Airport) to the University of Washington, but by 2023, the Light Rail will have four new station locations added from Northgate to Lynnwood. New stations include one at Northeast 145th Street, Northeast 185th Street, the Mountlake Transit Center (at 236th Street Southwest), and a station at the Lynnwood Transit Center (at 200th Street Southwest).
With these future extensions, riders are promised more frequent and reliable transportation and less pain from traffic congestion! It is estimated that commuters will be able to get from Lynnwood to Downtown Seattle in 28 minutes or to Sea-Tac Airport in 60 minutes.

Whether you’re starting out or starting over, Lynnwood has great opportunities for a college education. Edmonds Community College features 61 associate’s degree programs in disciplines like Pre-Nursing and Business/Accounting. “There is often a line of people that wraps around the building for Rec & Open Swim sessions in this LEED certified facility featuring 3 pools, 2 hot tubs, 2 giant slides, beach access for toddlers and preschoolers, and a large water-dumping-bucket and play area (a la Great-Wolf-Lodge style, but at a fraction of the price) there’s something for everyone no matter their age.”
PARKS
If you’re out and about, stop by one of Lynnwood’s awesome parks for a picnic and play time! Wilcox Park “offers play structures, open field for volleyball, soccer, frisbee and a wooded area too,” according to Tonya Robison Tye. “Wilcox City Park, also known by Lynnwoodians as Flag Park, offers a summer Farmers Market on Thursdays,” Stefanie Massie shares.
Another spot is Scriber Lake Park, which Tonya describes as “…a bridged walkway through natural ponds, streams and woods,” an ideal spot for wildlife lovers. Looking for something expansive that you can get lost in? Lynndale Park is Lynnwood’s largest park. Tonya’s tip? “The amphitheater at Lynndale park has live summer events!”
If you’re a history buff, Tonya recommends Heritage Park, which celebrates the city’s agricultural, transportation, and social heritage. Finally, Jen also recommends North Lynnwood Park for summer fun: “The North Lynnwood park has a dragon-themed splash pad, covered picnic areas, play equipment, and tons of lawn space. Perfect on those sunny summer days that will be coming soon. Right? Summer is coming, isn’t it?”
Lynnwood has some truly notable shopping opportunities, and it’s a destination for many in Snohomish County! According to our own Jen Bowman, Lynnwood is a “retail Mecca—how do you choose just one area? Looking for a new car, a couch, organic groceries, jewelry or a specialty bottle of wine? Come to Lynnwood! Total Wine, Whole Foods…[it’s the] only spot in Sno Co to find these stores (and many others).”

When it comes to retail, Jen knows there’s no beating the Alderwood Mall. “Of course Alderwood Mall is a main attraction for Lynnwood,” she shares. “Did you know the Regal Cinema (on the west side of the mall and south of Costco) has fully reclining seats?! Tickets are a little more expensive, but so worth it!” If you want to catch a movie or catch some great sales, add the mall to your list!
GROCERY SHOPPING
Whatever you’re shopping for, the grocery stores in Lynnwood have you covered. With over 8,000 wines (2,000 of which are not found anywhere else), Total Wine is a wine-lover’s paradise. For all of your bulk needs, Jen recommends the new Lynnwood Costco. An array of on-site amenities make it your one-stop shop, and there are even 2 Costco locations in Lynnwood to choose from, so you can pick whichever is closest to you!
You’re also sure to find some great products at Claudette Meyer Mitts’ pick, Trader Joe’s. Hard-to-find foods at low prices will get you hooked, and there are only a few locations in Snohomish County. Finally, health food fans will love Whole Foods, and the only one in Sno Co is in Lynnwood! “Whole Foods is conveniently located off 196th and I-5 for a quick stop to grab something off the salad bar or hot deli counter,” says Jen. “No time to make dinner? They have tons of store made, healthy options packaged up and ready to serve!”
CLOTHING
From tots to tap shoes, Lynnwood has some fabulous one-of-a-kind clothing shops. New parents can take advantage of Hopskotch Kids Consignment: “The Hopskotch Kids Consignment store in the Trader Joe’s/Hobby Lobby shopping center has great gently used baby gear,” shares Jen. “[It’s a] wonderful opportunity to resell your baby gear and clothes once your kids have outgrown. Great way to save money on baby stuff you’ll need just for a short time.”
Dancers will also want to check out Petticoat Junction Dance Shop. Aurora Pedrola shares that “the Petticoat Junction has an unparalleled selection of dance apparel and shoes. They are also locally owned!”

According to Jen, “When it comes to furnishing your home, look no further than Lynnwood! There are so many furniture stores to choose from it’s hard to pick a favorite, but if you like Scandinavian design and clean lines, make Dania Furniture top on your list. The customer service is so helpful and friendly.” She adds that “[Town Center] Hardware is another really fun place. “They have pretty much something of everything.”
Claudette loves “stopping in at Third Place Books… where you can study, eat, read, play (there’s a small play area for toddlers), or just watch people come and go. When it comes to commuting through Lake Forest Park to surrounding communities, the preferred method of travel may not be what you’d expect. “Lake Forest Park residents predominantly rely on car & bus for their commutes to Seattle or the Eastside,” Claudette shares. “However, with convenient access to a 2-mile stretch of the Burke-Gilman Trail that passes through the city, there is a robust population of residents that commute into Seattle by bicycle, and particularly work centers such as the University of Washington & Children’s Hospital.”
